Not Your Daughter's Jeans Hires Kevin Mahoney as New President

Denim company Not Your Daughter’s Jeans has tapped apparel-industry veteran Kevin Mahoney to be the new president of the growing clothing company.

Mahoney, most recently president and chief executive of Hartstrings, a wholesaler and retailer of children’s apparel in Philadelphia, will be working out of the denim company’s headquarters in Vernon, Calif. His duties include being responsible for all aspects of the brand’s business strategy and operations.

Mahoney will report to Edwin Lewis, the company’s chairman and chief executive.

“Kevin is a versatile executive with excellent leadership skills and a deep understanding of the industry,” Lewis said in a statement. “I feel confident that Kevin’s experience and knowledge will help enhance our growing NYDJ business.”

Prior to working for Hartstrings, Mahoney was president of Chaps Ralph Lauren and president of The Arrow Shirt Co., where he worked for 18 years.

“I’m thrilled to take on this exciting new opportunity and lead the continued expansion of the NYDJ brand,” Mahoney said in a statement.

Not Your Daughter’s Jeans was founded in 2003 by Lisa Rudes-Sandel and her father, George Rudes. They sold a major interest in the company in 2008 to Falconhead Capital, a private-equity firm in New York, for close to $100 million. Falconhead immediately appointed Lewis as chairman and chief executive. He had worked as chief executive of Tommy Hilfiger and at Mossimo and served in numerous executive positions during his 18 years at Polo Ralph Lauren.

Lewis has made a personal investment in NYDJ, whose offerings have expanded from the tummy-tuck jeans sold at Nordstrom and other departments stores to skirts, chinos and dress trousers.—Deborah Belgum
