'Pop' Stars: Kitson and Junk Food Toast Coke
A Coke and a Smile: Actor James Preston at Kitson.
Junk Food Clothing hosted a lively birthday bash at Kitson on May 17 to celebrate Coca-Cola's 125th anniversary since first bubbling up in Atlanta in 1886. The pairing of the classic American soda and the hipster T-shirt company devoted to U.S. pop culture provided the perfect excuse to indulge in Rum and Coke's in the comfy and casual Kitson courtyard.
Gossip Girl's Chace Crawford (left) and Sherri Saum, Glee's Dijon Talton, Twilight's Christian Serratos and Big Time Rush's Stephen Kramer Glickman were among the eclectic crowd that turned up for the event in the heart of Robertson. Hotdogs were on the grill and Hawaii Five-0 actress Taryn Manning kept the turntables spinning and a packed house groovin' to a fun, party mix that smoothly segued from Katy Perry to Rick Springfield.
Although most of the stylish, beautiful crowd would probably look good in just about anything, many stuck with the theme and rocked Junk Food T's with Coke's iconic logo splashed across the chest.
Abercrombie Fitch model-turned-actor James Preston, who portrays James Dean in the upcoming bio pic Joshua Tree, 1951, kept it casual in jeans, T-shirt and suede jacket while giving the paparazzi his best Dean posturing. Perhaps he was prepping for his role as the legendary '50s fashion trendsetter -- either way, it worked. And reality TV star Stephanie Pratt and her pals adhered to a Hills-like multitasking routine of enjoying drinks and socializing while shopping the Kitson racks.
Apparently this was the fashion event to be at because even busy 90210 star Shenae Grimes (below) made sure to make an appearance before heading out to NYC the next morning to begin a two-month internship with Teen Vogue. The enviable gig, which the actress will tend to during 90210's summer hiatus, provides the basis for a new Buzz Media reality show starring the 21-year-old fashionista.
Marvelously decked out in a classic leather jacket and Coke T with a fun faux heart tatt near her sparkling brown eyes, Grimes rocked a rebel style and was in great spirits when we caught up to get the 411 on her new show and, more importantly, how the temporary East Coast move will affect her wardrobe.
"I'm so excited because I get to go back to my roots," Grimes told "Trade Talk." I'm from Toronto, so East Coast style is definitely more my speed. The little flip-flops and jeans-shorts thing doesn't really do it for me. But if you go out of the house here with too much black leather, people kind of look at you funny. So I'm pulling out all the stops this time. I've got all my wardrobe for New York already. I'm very excited."
