O'Neill Names New Sales Executive

O’Neill Clothing, an Orange County surf label, announced that John Hunt was promoted to vice president of sales for the company, owned by La Jolla Group in Irvine, Calif.

Hunt had previously worked as the company’s national sales manager and directed sales for major accounts in the brand’s men’s and juniors divisions. In his new job, Hunt will be responsible for sales and strategic planning for the O’Neill brand. He also will lead the surf label’s sales teams for its men’s, juniors and children’s divisions. Hunt will report to Steve Ward, O’Neill’s senior vice president of sales and marketing.

“John has been such a valuable member of our team,” Ward said in a statement. “Moving into the VP of sales role will be a seamless transition.” Hunt joined O’Neill in 2008 after working 17 years with Macy’s Inc. During his Macy’s career, he worked as a divisional merchandise manager for the company.

O’Neill was started in 1952 in San Francisco by Jack O’Neill and is one of America’s oldest surf brands. The brand’s license was acquired by La Jolla Group in 1992. The company’s portfolio of activewear brands includes Rusty, Metal Mulisha, True Love & False Idols, In God’s Hands, The Berrics and FMF.—Andrew Asch
