Obey's Shepard Fairey: Music Video Director
Obey's Shepard Fairey moonlights as a DJ (he goes by the handle DJ Diabetic. True story.), political fire-starter and co-star of the Oscar-nominated documentary Exit Through the Gift Shop. I guess being a respected contemporary and street artist wasn't enough and now Fairey has added "director" to his long list of side-gigs.
Fairey, along with Death Cab for Cutie's Nick Harmer, directed a music video for the band's new single, "Home is a Fire."
Shot in L.A.'s Echo Park and other east side spots (including Fairey's studio), the video incorporates his street art roots with lyrics printed on posters and plastered on walls. Pretty cool.
