'ANTM' Live To Head North in 2012
The America's Next Top Modelfranchise continues its global domination by bringing its interactive component to Canada. The hit reality TV show has launched America's Top Model Live, a sort of interactive fashion show and style summit that debuted in Britain last year and will make its way to Toronto in 2012 with its first event set for May 4-6.
Based on the fashion model competition created by Tyra Banks, America's Top Model Live attempts to bring the fierceness and fashion of the hit show to fans and fashionistas on a local level -- kind of like a Comic Con but for fashionistas instead of sci-fi geeks. The event is comprised of runways shows, industry panels, makeovers, retail therapy and forums on how to break into the supermodel biz. There will also be an open catwalk for fearless fashionistas looking to strut their stuff.
"At its heart, the Next Top Model brand is about making fashion accessible to everyone. Setting the franchise in a live setting is an engaging way of doing this -- and if the success of our London show is any indication, this is going to be a hit," says Liz Kalodner, general manager of CBS Consumer Products, which is producing the event.
