Los Angeles Fashion Week Rewind
Los Angeles Fashion Week is looking positively svelte. This season, the event trimmed down to about 30 fashion presentations over the course of a mere 12 days—a big change from past seasons, when the events numbered in the three digits and spread out over several weeks.
But even in its new, leaner state, Fashion Week packed in plenty of well-established designers and newcomers, slick, professionally produced shows and edgy indies, and fashions that ranged from red-carpet gowns to avant-garde styles to the next looks in denim.
The week featured three multi-day group shows: returning events Concept Los Angeles Fashion Week, held this season at the Ace Gallery in the mid-Wilshire district, and L.A. Fashion Weekend at Sunset Gower Studios in Hollywood, as well as newcomer Style Fashion Week L.A.,held at Vibiana in downtown. There were also multi-designer shows hosted by Project Ethos, Fashion Minga, the California Market Center and Directives West, as well as plenty of independent showcases and, of course, countless parties around town.
