Los Angeles Fashion Week: Gypsy 05
On March 16, Los Angeles–based label Gypsy 05 debuted its Fall 2011 collection at Vibiana as part of Style Fashion Week L.A. The collection, which included garments for men and women, showed Gypsy 05’s scope. The brand’s trademark uniquely dyed knits that helped launch the brand hit the runway alongside Gypsy 05’s take on classic sportswear pieces, including men’s chinos, military-inspired jackets, soft blazers, lace tops and long, flowing dresses. Bouncing between breezy flower-child dresses and more-rugged utilitarian pieces, the collection seemed to be inspired by hippies with a militant edge. Standout pieces included inky, ombreacute;-dyed striped sweaters and a collection of printed dresses and skirts with contrasting layers. —Erin Barajas
