Los Angeles Fashion Week: Anthony Franco

Los Angeles designer Anthony Franco opted for an intimate setting to show his Fall 2011 collection—the Craig Olsen interior-design studio on Los Angeles’ La Brea Avenue.

The March 18 show was part runway and part installation, which allowed Franco to let the clothes (and the models) tell a story. Models lounged on a chaise lounge or sat facing the guests, as if to survey the crowd.

Franco said he was inspired by the movies Eyes of Laura Mars and Scarface, and the collection captured the luxe and sexy look of both films.

Franco dressed his men in perfectly snug suits—some worn with vests, others worn with chunky turtleneck sweaters. One model arrived in boxers and a silk row and reclined provocatively on the chaise.

For women, there were beautifully tailored suits, jackets and trousers with intriguing details like the red welt pocket on a white suit or the buttoned back yoke on a pair of camel trousers.

Franco gave the women a few showstoppers, as well, including beautifully draped gold dress with dolman sleeves, a strapless dress crafted of feathers and a flirty short dress with leather cap sleeves and a gold fringed skirt. —Alison A. Nieder
