South Coast Plaza confirmed June 24 that influential fashion retailer Billy Stade will be opening a new boutique in its Costa Mesa, Calif.-based luxury resort.
When contacted by California Apparel News, Stade said his new shop, to be called Stade California, will be much different than The Closet boutique chain which he left in November.
“It will be a vertical business model. We are going to mix in international premium lines and the best of California,” he said. Stade California is scheduled to debut mid-August in South Coast Plaza’s Crate Barrel wing at South Coast Plaza West, which was formerly called Crystal Court Shopping Center.
In other South Coast Plaza News, an Ann Taylor concept store debuted at the luxury retail area on June 17.
The new Ann Taylor will feature shops in shops such as a suit shop, a casual shop and accessory shop. There also will be multichannel touch screens in dressing rooms so customers can access deeper information on products, as well as crystal chandeliers and warm lighting in the new store.
The party for the grand opening was held June 21 at the gracious California Scenario/Noguchi Sculpture Garden, across the street from South Coast Plaza.
June 25 will mark the highly anticipated opening of Forever 21 at South Coast Plaza. The Los Angeles-based fast fashion giant will open its XXI Forever concept in the Sears store at edge of the luxury property.
XXI Forever will comprise 43,000 square-feet of the Sears store. Despite the big change, one major part of the South Coast Plaza Sears will remain. The Sears automative center, a link to a more blue collar time at South Coast Plaza, is not budging.
