Guess? Opens Redesigned Flagship on Santa Monica's Third Street Promenade
The night was a fundraiser for The Museum of Contemporary Art –- but the June 21 grand reopening of the Guess? flagship on Santa Monica’s Third Street Promenade was all about showing off a new prototype Guess? store.
Inspired by the Guess? flagship on New York's 5th Avenue, the design changes for the Santa Monica store started with the wide aisle going down the 9,121-square-foot emporium. Placed on the runway were “swing shops” or four vignettes of mannequins showing the specialty retailer’s new looks; whether it be Guess? colored jeans, its “dressy” items, or the brand’s popular accessories.
Darin Skinner, Guess? senior veep of retail said the store closed for remodeling in February and had a soft opening in April. He said the remodel already created a good return on investment. “It will be more healthy than it was before. It is performing extremely well,” he said. Next up for Guess? The brand will open stores in the Canadian cities of Calgary and Vancouver.--Andrew Asch
