Miami Swim Week:Where The Stars Come Out to Play
Once a year, editors, designers and fashionistas congregate to South Beach to see the hottest styles in swim and resort wear for the upcoming year – but it’s not all work. Multiple fashion weeks, a parade of supermodels and a never-ending supply of mojitos provide an ample playground for jet-setters and media alike.

Gossip Girl’s Jessica Szohr DJ’d Diesel and Skyy Vodka’s Mercedes Benz Fashion Week opening night party, which featured Hills star Kristin Cavallari strutting her stuff down the runway in a blue glass Skyy Vodka-inspired bikini with rapper Theophilus London taking it all in from the front row.
John Legend took in the stunning view from atop The Raleigh’s Penthouse at a private showing for DiNeila Brazil swimwear, along with Ocean Drive covergirl Chrissy Teigen. The party was complete with DJ’s, tropical drinks and models sporting neon green, day-glo pink and bright purple bikinis. Teigen worked with designer Neila Granzoti Rudden on the new line.
Legendary body-painter Joanne Gair (of Sports Illustrated painted supermodels and naked-except-for-a-painted-bodysuit-Vanity Fair covergirl Demi Moore fame) took in Lisa Blue’s galactic inspired 2012 swim collection from Down Under.
Sports Illustrated “Rookie of the Year” newbie supermodel Kate Upton wowed the crowd at the standing-room only Beach Bunny Cruise 2012 show with her blue sequined two-piece and bridal suit. Ryan Seacrest and Julianne Hough were rumored to be staying at The Setai Hotel during the Chloe 2011 resort wear show, but weren’t seen at the elegant outdoor event staged around the hotel’s Asian-inspired lagoon.
Bachelorette Ali Fedotowsky came to Lisa Vogel’s Luxe by Lisa Vogel Cruise 2012 show at The Raleigh Hotel, and even Miss Teen USA Danielle Doty graced the sidelines of Kooey Swimwear’s runway with her presence.
With Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim, MOD Swim Week, Funkshion Fashion Week, SwimShow 2012, Salon Allure, a myriad of teeny bikinis and countless parties packed into six crazy days, it’s no wonder Swim Week is flooded with celebrities each year.
