McCluskey Promoted at Warnaco
Helen McCluskey, chief operating officer of New York–based The Warnaco Group Inc., was named president and chief executive officer of the company. She succeeds Joe Gromek, who is retiring after eight years with the company.
McCluskey has been with Warnaco since 2004, serving first as group president of intimate apparel and later adding global oversight of Warnaco’s swimwear brands to her responsibilities. She was named COO in 2010, adding the Calvin Klein Jeans and Chaps brands to her responsibilities, as well as all of Warnaco’s international businesses and its global supply chain and sourcing operations.
The company credits McCluskey with “revitalizing” Warnaco’s core intimate-apparel brands and “restoring growth and improved financial performance to the Speedo brand.”
Before joining Warnaco, McCluskey was group president of moderate women’s sportswear for Liz Claiborne Inc. and had spent nearly 20 years at Sara Lee Corp., including serving at president of its Playtex Apparel division.—A.A.N.
