Shopping for Charity, Divine Design
Costume Designer Patricia Field received the Iconic Fashion Visionary award from Darren Star, producer of Sex and the City.
As the auctioneer Vanessa Thanos at Divine Design said, you can’t take it with you to the grave. Thankfully for Project Angel Food, the Hollywood industry crowd that came to the annual Divine Design’s fundraising gala last night was generous. The live auction rallied more than $40,000. And they are just getting started.
After the awards presentation and auction at the Beverly Hilton, the guests headed over in their party clothes to the former Robinsons May building next door and shopped tons of brands at 50% off retail like Monique Lhuillier, Brooks Brothers, L.A. Eyeworks, David Meister, Black Halo, Single, Michael Antonio, Elizabeth and James, Trina Turk, Kiehl’s and Barclay Butera home all laid out like a department store. By the end of the night, the shoppers had kicked their high heels off like it was a wedding and walked out barefoot with full shopping bags.
The shopping even is open to the public starting tomorrow for $25. For more info see DivineDesign.org
Miss J Alexander from America's Next Top Model was host of the evening's gala.
Chef Thomas Keller was presented with the Iconic Chef Restauranteur award. As founder of The French Laundry, he is kind of a big deal celebrity in the foodie world. And not at all as serious as he looks.
Viola Davis was witty, captivating and funny as she shared an anecdote about how she was not at all the "pretty" type of girl and she never thought she'd ever get an award ever for "Woman of Style." Depth of character is style, indeed.
Kristin Chenowith blew the audience away with her big huge voice coming out of the tiniest little person.
