Swatfame Goes Live on New Generation Computing's Extended PLM Software

Los Angeles–based global multi-brand Swatfame has implemented New Generation Computing (NGC)’s combination extended PLM (product lifecycle management) software. The $130 million women’s and girls’ fashion company adopted the new system to replace its “homegrown” system of spreadsheets and combine PLM and supply-chain management (SCM).“Most PLM systems that we saw were stand-alones, but NGC’s software was unique in tying together both production and PLM,” said Jonathan Greenberg, executive vice president of Swatfame. The NGC software includes information on style, costing, collaboration and communication history in a single repository of information that is visible throughout the company and to suppliers.“We are in and out of styles very quickly; we do a large amount of styles per month, and our product needs are always changing,” Greenberg said. “Our overseas vendors can access information while we’re sleeping, eliminating the need to use email. Anyone can look up information at any time and know that they have the most up-to-date information.”Nordstrom, Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, Kohl’s and JCPenney are some of Swatfame’s high-profile customers.NGC is a provider of PLM, supply-chain management, ERP [enterprise resource planning], and product-testing software and services for brands, retailers and consumer-product companies. Its customers include AX Armani Exchange, Aeropostale, Billabong, Carter’s and Hugo Boss, among others.—D.C.
