Beach Bunny Opens at Malibu Lumber Yard
Beach Bunny Swimwear is on a retail growth spurt.
The fashion swimwear label, based in Irvine, Calif., has been opening stores as fast as a revolving door spins.
In June, it opened a boutique in the upscale Beverly Center mall in Los Angeles, followed a few months later by a Miami Beach, Fla., outlet. In September, the seven-boutique chain opens its doors in Las Vegas. And branching out overseas, a Beach Bunny Swimwear boutique will debut in Dubai next year.
Yet the swimwear line slowed down long enough to produce a grand-opening party on Aug. 18 at its 1,700-square-foot boutique that opened July 1 at the Malibu Lumber Yard, a luxury retail center that offers a sun deck as well as a mix of stores that center on casual designer fashions. The stores range from Kitson to Maxfield.
Beach Bunny Swimwear designer and owner Angela Chittenden presided over the party inside the store, which is decorated in the label’s signature colors of aqua and fuchsia and with walls showcasing exposed wood.
In 2007, the label made a splash with its lingerie-inspired bikinis. Since then, it has expanded to T-shirts, denim, dresses, shoes and accessories as well as a collaboration swimwear line with the ubiquitous Kardashian sisters.
