Bigger Shows, More Parties, More Cities for Fashion's Night Out
Fashion’s Night Out will be celebrated Sept. 8 with runway shows, style events and parties in cities across the world.
In Los Angeles, more than 25,000 people are expected to attend or pass through Fashion’s Night Out at the Beverly Center mall. The event will start with remarks from Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa on the importance of fashion and fashion retail to the city’s economy. Later, Nicole Richie, fashion designer and TV star, will host a Beverly Center runway show of luxury styles from Fendi and Salvatore Ferragamo. The Los Angeles mall will also host a second runway show that night, for contemporary and juniors styles.
Also in the Los Angeles area, pioneering Los Angeles fashion boutique Ron Robinson Fred Segal will host a Fashion’s Night Out Party, featuring an installationby the Dirtee Hollywood brand. The city of West Hollywood will sponsor shuttles between its high-profile retail areas, such as Melrose and SunsetPlaza . The shopping events will be followed by a party at SkyBar, hosted by the city of West Hollywood. The public is invited to the party at the hip bar. SkyBar has the crowd capacity of more than 400 people, and entry will be on first-come, first-served basis, said Andy Keown, a representative for West Hollywood’s Fashion’s Night Out event.
This year, the scope of 2011 Fashion’s Night Out is expanding to include more Southern California cities.
Riverside, located more than one hour’s drive east of downtown Los Angeles, will host its first Fashion’s Night Out celebration with a runway show produced by The Art Institute of California–Inland Empire and a party on the city’s Main Street.
The Fashion Island retail center in Orange County’s wealthy coastal town of Newport Beach will be hosting a Fashion’s Night Out with a fashion presentation in the mall’s Neiman Marcus–Bloomingdale’s courtyard. More than 40 shops across Fashion Island will host parties and sales to celebrate the global fashion party.
San Diego’s Fashion Valley mall will be hosting a runway show of fall styles in its center court. High-profile retailers such as Bloomingdale’s and Sun Diego also will be hosting parties for the night.
