True Religion Names New President
Los Angeles premium-denim line True Religion Apparel Inc. announced that veteran apparel-industry executive Lynne Koplin is now the company’s new president. She immediately takes over for Michael Egeck, who held that post for little more than one year.
Koplin came on board in January 2010 as the company’s chief operating officer and has been rising fast through the ranks. In the company’s Aug. 18 announcement, Koplin was praised for improving merchandise planning, buying and allocation for the company’s fleet of stores, which now total more than 110 around the world. “Lynne has made significant contributions to the improvements in our business over the past 18 months,” said Jeffrey Lubell, the company’s co-founder and now chairman and chief executive, in a statement.
Koplin has held a number of apparel-industry positions. Prior to joining the company, she was president, women’s division, of Tommy Bahama, a subsidiary of Oxford Industries. For many years she was president and chief executive of Apparel Ventures Inc., a swimwear manufacturer in Gardena, Calif. Egeck, who was hired by True Religion in May 2010, came to the company after serving as president of 7 For All Mankind and then president of contemporary brands for VF Corp., which acquired 7 For All Mankind in 2007 for $775 million. Documents filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission show that Egeck will be given a $2.9 million separation payment.
