Prince William and Princess Kate All Dolled Up
I'm sure Mattel, the Los Angeles maker of Barbie and Ken, is wishing it had thought of this one.
A British toy company has come out with a Princess Kate wedding doll wearing a very close replica of the royal wedding dress designed by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen. For those who can't get enough of royal kitsch, there is a box set of Princess Kate and Prince William dolls. William is replendent in his bright red military uniform draped with a blue sash.
The toys aren't cheap. The Princess Kate doll sells for $82 and the boxed set goes for $164. Arklu, which made a Princess Kate engagement doll last year, unveiled the toys today at the London store Hamleys. Word from the British press is the dolls look pretty goofy and bare only a faint resemblence to the royal couple. One wag wrote that they look more like puppets with "over-sized heads, fixed grins and googly eyes."
You'll be happy to know that the fashion attire is truly accurate, right down to the underwear.
