Gap's Athleta Opens in Manhattan
San Francisco–based Gap Inc. opened two new stores for its Athleta active lifestyle brand on Manhattan’s Upper East Side and Upper West Side. The company plans to open 50 stores by 2013. “Entering New York is a significant milestone for us as we aim to grow our share of the $31 billion women’s activewear market,” said Scott Key, senior vice president and general manager of Athleta, in a company statement. The company opened its first Athleta store earlier this year in San Francisco.
