L.A. Designer Creates Carl's Jr. Turkey Burger Dress

Who hasn't seen that sexy Carl's Jr. turkey burger TV ad where Miss Turkey walks towards a swimming pool with nothing but a bikini and a turkey burger to obscure the view.

Many people may not know that there is a longer version of the TV ad where Miss Turkey, Gizem Memic, sashays toward the swimming pool, first wearing a long red gown that she loses along the way to reveal the bikini and more of Miss Turkey. The woman who created the flowing red gown is none other than Los Angeles designer Shelley Komarov, who for many years worked as a costume designer in Hollywood. For nearly 15 years now, Komarov has had her own dress line and sportswear label, but she still has Hollywood connections.

Komarov was pressed into service by fellow costume designer, Francine Lecoultre, who designed the bikini. But with a mere two days to get both a dress and the bikini done, Lecoultre turned to Komarov for help.

"It was an international project," Komarov said. "The American director was in Rome. Miss Turkey was in Turkey and they were shooting in South Africa."

Komarov had to design two gowns for Miss Turkey. One gown was to be a bit larger and hang from her shoulders so it would slip off easily. The second gown was to be more fitted.

"My friend was saying, 'Help me, help me, help me. I don't know how to do this in two days,'" Komarov recalled. "We got it done. That's the movie buisness."
