Zimmer Stepping Down at Men's Wearhouse
George Zimmer, the founder, chief executive officer, chairman of the board—and spokesperson—of the Men’s Wearhouse, is retiring. The company named Douglas S. Ewert, president and chief operating officer, to succeed him after the menswear retailer’s annual shareholders’ meeting in June. Zimmer founded the company in 1973 and grew it to 1,192 stores under the Men’s Wearhouse, Moores, K&G and Tux nameplates. The company also has an international corporate apparel and workwear group under the name TwinHill in the United States and Dimensions and Alexandra in the United Kingdom.
