The Art Spirit of Fashion showcase and fundraiser debuted earlier this year to celebrate emerging Los Angeles designers and artists. The event’s producer, Jeffrey Lindsay Relf, announced a date for his first 2011 showcase.
The upcoming event will be scheduled March 4, possibly at the Bang Gallery in downtown Los Angeles. This art space was the location of the Aug. 27 Art Spirit event.
Expect 12 emerging designers and 12 emerging artists to showcase their work at the March Art Spirit event. The creative work is presented as an installation so retailers and the fashion public will have a luxurious time to take in the new fashion Relf said. A second event will be scheduled later in 2011.
Relf, whose day job is senior creative director for The Fashion Office, a fashion/PR/events company, started the Art Spirit showcase to help raise funds and awareness for Hollywood-Arts.org, a non-profit which gives free arts training to youths who are at-risk, homeless or in foster care.
Macy’s helped sponsor the August showcase when it supplied a VIP lounge for the event. Macy’s also put up event posters at its downtown L.A. store. A big thrill for the showcase's Aug. 27 designers was when Macy's produced an in-store installation of their Art Spirit designs, again at the downtown L.A. Macy's. Relf is taking submissions for those new designers interested in exhibiting at the upcoming showcase. For more information, contact him at thefashionoffice@yahoo.com.
