L.A. Fashion Week Spring 2011: XR Collection by Richard Bowman and Xavier Othon
Among the many surprises of Los Angeles Fashion Week is this: The Sephora store at the Hollywood & Highland shopping complex in Hollywood makes a great runway space. The bright lighting, black-and-white deacute;cor and long aisles provided a crisp backdrop for designers Richard Bowman and Xavier Othon’s latest XR Collection, shown Oct. 24.
This was not Bowman and Othon’s first runway show at the Sephora store, according to Bowman, who credited store manager Victorio Esparza for providing the space.
On the runway, the designers showed plenty of sweeping red carpet–ready gowns—fitting for a showcase so close to the Kodak Theater. Highlights included a black velvet dress with detached single sleeve, a blue animal-print dress tied high at the neck, and two jewel-toned gowns in blue and green.
Brights turned up in Bowman and Othon’s looks for men, as well, including a bright lime shade used for a turtleneck and vest.
The designers also included a few looks for fashion-minded children and teens.—Alison A. Nieder
