L.A. Fashion Week Spring 2011: Sue Wong
Sue Wong is known for bringing the glamour, whether staging elaborate runway shows or opening her 1920s-era Los Feliz home for a swank cocktail party. For her Spring 2011 showing, the Los Angeles designer mixed business with glamour by hosting a party in her mid-town atelier.
The Oct. 15 event was jam-packed with celebrities and fans, including Brooke Burns, Brooke Burns, Bridget Marquardt and Melinda McGraw. Guests mingled in the studio space, sampling cupcakes, sizing up the well-dressed crowd and taking in the collection, showcased on a rotation of models on pedestals.
Wong employed her signature deft hand with beading, embroidery and the judicious use of feathers for the collection, which was inspired by pre-code Hollywood and stars such as Marlene Dietrich, Bette Davis, Barbara Stanwyck and Tallulah Bankhead.—Alison A. Nieder
