L.A. Fashion Week Spring 2011: Siwy
Siwy is a denim line headquartered in New York, but it might as well be a Los Angeles brand. The women’s jeans brand is produced in Los Angeles, and designer Michelle Siwy keeps an apartment in L.A.
Siwy joined the Los Angeles Fashion Week lineup with an informal event at H.Wood, a lounge at the Hollywood & Highland retail center on Hollywood Boulevard.
Models dressed in Siwy’s Spring 2011 season posed, and Michelle Siwy took reporters through the jeans line, which featured feminine silhouettes and some gritty-looking masculine washes.
The Spring 2011 season offered 16 different bodies, including the “Kristom,” a high-waist, cut-off short, and the “Camilla,” a boot-cut trouser-style jean with a top-stitched cuff. There also were twill shorts and loose-fitting cargo pants with desert colors. With these changes, Siwy’s signature pocket stitching remains. It is in the shape of an open heart, the designer said.—Andrew Asch
