Zero + Maria Cornejo's L.A. Debut

After being lauded by the New York’s fashion chattering class, and inspiring fans like Tilda Swinton and reportedly Michelle Obama, Maria Cornejo opened a Los Angeles boutique on Oct. 14.
Her Zero + Maria Cornejo boutique took a bow at 8408 Melrose Place, which is near stores for fashion houses Marc Jacobs, Marni and Oscar de la Renta.
On display were men’s and women’s fashions made with Cornejo’s spare, angular aesthetic. Cornejo said a few pieces in the store were made specifically for the Los Angeles boutique. But everything else was designed for a sophisticated person with a certain mindset.
“The collection is about being transitional,” Cornejo said, or someone who always is traveling from a different world capital to the next.
Cornejo also hoped the store would promote the life of the mind. Her Melrose Place boutique is divided into a men’s section, a woman’s section and a gallery style exhibition space, where the history of the brand will be on display as well as new looks of possible collaborations.
