TSS, short for Terry Sahagen Sales, has built a reputation as a destination showroom among contemporary and designer buyers. The nearly 7,000-square-foot showroom, which moved to the Cooper Design Space in 2008, features 10 lines, including Ella Moss, Milly, Bailey 44, Tt Collection, Monrow, Plenty by Tracy Reese, Frock! By Tracy Reese, Tracy Reese, Twenty 8 Twelve and Weston Wear. Sahagen said her business has grown in scale and in scope since moving to the Cooper building. “We have the more casual, contemporary element and the more designer, collection element,” Sahagen said.

Now, with the Spring 2011 Fashion Market on the way, Sahagen is ready to greet buyers with key trends and collections that continue to evolve. “Ella Moss has stepped up to a more advanced feel,” she said. “It has become more of a collection with related separates and fully fashioned sweaters.” The line, which has shifted its focus from solids to include a variety of prints, has also added categories such as a strong bottoms offering. Retailers, Sahagen said, have been responding well to Ella Moss’ new categories. “Ella Moss has a great following, and retailers have continued to experience good sell-through” when they’ve bought deeper into the line, she said.

For Spring 2011 Sahagen hopes to see business open up again. One good indicator is the fact that retailers are looking for Immediate goods. “I think it is turning around a bit. There was a slump, and we lost a lot of retailers in the contemporary market. But the people that survived are strong,” she said.

Trends that TSS is supporting for Spring include the classic “advanced” preppy look and the breezy bohemian trend. “We’re covering the trends, but we’re also keeping them sell-able. That’s what it’s about.”—Erin Barajas
