A touch of France alighted at the South Coast Plaza in Orange County
The shopping center that includes every range of store - from your basic Sears to your blingy Tiffany Co. - has landed a new chic, retail store with a clean, modern design.
Anne Fontaine, the French designer who began her career designing 500 different white blouses before paring them down to a more succinct collection, opened her new, self-named shopping outpost on Nov. 12 at the massive retail center in Costa Mesa, Calif.
The concept for the 1,510-square-foot space is based on her New York flagship store on Madison Avenue designed by architect Andree Putnam. The new store is a vast collecton of shades of white mixed with natural materials that dominate the area. Anne's sophisticated collection of blouses, dresses, sweaters and pants are complemented by a wide range of stylish purses, belts and jewelry.
Anne grew up in Brazil but later moved to Europe. She married Ari Zlotkin, whose family had a contracting business in France. Soon after, Anne launched her first collection in 1993. Five years later, she opened her first store in the United States in Boston. She has a handful of stores in California, including Beverly Hills, San Jose and San Francisco, as well as a number of emporiums in Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Illinois.
