Wet Seal#039;s Shopkick Deal
Foothill Ranch–based The Wet Seal introduced a new mobile-phone app that allows shoppers to receive deals just by entering a Wet Seal store. The technology, created by San Francisco–based Shopkick, can be downloaded to a mobile phone. When the customer walks into a Wet Seal store, the application detects the Shopkick signal (emitted from a patent-pending device located in the store). The customer then receives “kickbucks,” which can be collected and redeemed for gift cards, discounts, song downloads, Facebook credits, magazine subscriptions or charitable donations. Shopkick also works with Target Corp., American Eagle Outfitters Inc., Best Buy Inc., Macy’s Inc., Simon Property Group Inc. and Sports Authority. Shopkick also offers rewards to shoppers who scan products from brands such as Kraft Foods and Procter & Gamble.
