Orange County Fashion Gets Sweet
Paul Frank's collaboration with Nestle
How cute! Orange County–based Paul Frank Industries announced Nov. 1 that it would collaborate with food company Nestle to put its Julius the Monkey and Worry Bear cartoon characters on Nestle Crunch bars for the holiday season.
The limited edition candies will be sold in Target. We’re also smelling a sweet trend.
In 2009, Orange County–based fashion label Comune helped in the debut of confections line Komforte Chockolates. The line sought a departure from other candies with its unorthodox chocolate mixes such as Ramen Noodle flavor, French Toast and Tortilla Lime and Salt.
Comune founder Frank Delgadillo said he wanted to provide a chocolate bar that would please the stomach as well as the eye. “It was about aesthetic design. It’s what looks good on the shelf,” Delgadillo said. Spoken like a true designer. Komforte has been sold at American Rag and some retailers in the Pacific Northwest, Delgadillo said, and it is scheduled for bigger distribution in 2011.
