Cooper, New Mart and D&A Retain August Market Dates
The Cooper Design Space, The New Mart and Designers and Agents will maintain their original dates for the Holiday/Resort 2010 Los Angeles Fashion Market in August, rather than following the lead of the California Market Center and Brighte, which have moved their dates ahead by one day.
At the Cooper Design Space and The New Mart, August market will run from Monday, Aug. 9 through Thursday, Aug. 12. Designers and Agents will show in The New Mart on Aug. 9 through 11.
The announcement, made by Ethan Eller of The New Mart in a statement released on behalf of the three parties, came after the California Market Center announced changes to its August market dates. The California Market Center will hold market from Sunday, Aug. 8 through Wednesday, Aug. 11. The date change also applied to the CMC’s trade shows, the FOCUS Apparel & Accessories show and the TRANSIT LA Shoe Show. Both FOCUS and TRANSIT will be held Aug. 8–10.
Concurrent trade show Brighte, produced by ENK International, will similarly shift its August dates to coincide with the CMC’s Aug. 8–11 schedule.
When the CMC’s date change was originally announced, a spokesperson for the wholesale showroom building said the new dates provide more of a “buffer” between the Los Angeles market dates and the Las Vegas trade shows, which start on Aug. 16. The new dates will provide an extra day for tenants participating in the Las Vegas shows to prepare, pack and ship merchandise.—Rhea Cortado
