Elie Tahari Opens First California Boutique
Fashion brand Elie Tahari runs seven boutiques on the East Coast, and this summer the New York–based contemporary label will open its first in California.
Elie Tahari will open in luxury retail center Fashion Island, located in Newport Beach. The 2,500-square-foot Tahari flagship will be located in the mall’s Neiman Marcus–Bloomingdale’s courtyard and will sell Elie Tahari’s fashions for men and women as well as accessories. The boutique’s interior will be designed by Italian architect Piero Lissoni.
Tahari label Chairman Elie Tahari promised the Fashion Island store will start a new chapter for his company.
“We are eager to continue to expand the number of freestanding Elie Tahari boutiques and are delighted to be adding this eighth store in the United States to our growing portfolio,” Tahari said in a statement.
The Elie Tahari boutique is one of several recent high-profile store debuts in Southern California. Nordstrom opened two full-line stores recently. On April 16, it opened a store in Fashion Island. On May 7, Nordstrom celebrated the relocation of its store in Los Cerritos Center in Cerritos, Calif., to a larger space in the mall.
On May 4, Prada held a debut party for its 5,070-square-foot boutique in South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, Calif. The store was designed by Italian architect Roberto Baciocchi and will offer the iconic fashion house’s ready-to-wear for men and women, footwear, and accessories.
More designer names will be moving into Beverly Hills’ Rodeo Drive this fall. Tom Ford will open a boutique selling the designer’s menswear and accessories. Badgley Mischka will open a boutique on Rodeo in Fall 2010. The flagship will be located at the corner of Rodeo Drive and South Santa Monica Boulevard.—Andrew Asch
