Manhattan Beachwear Lands Nanette Lepore Swim
Manhattan Beachwear, the Cypress, Calif.–based swimwear maker, has signed a licensing agreement with Los Angeles–based contemporary brand Nanette Lepore. The Nanette Lepore Swim collection—which will include bikinis, one-pieces and coverups—will launch with the Resort 2011 season and make its debut in July at the Miami SwimShow.
The collection will reflect the Nanette Lepore brand’s prints and colorways and take inspiration from the designer’s collection of vintage swimwear. “It’s a natural extension for our brand, which emphasizes print and color and Nanette’s sensibility. She’s a swimwear girl herself,” said Heather Pech, Nanette Lepore’s chief executive officer, in a statement.
The collection is expected to sell as separates internationally at Nanette Lepore’s 11 boutiques as well as specialty and department stores, with retail prices ranging from $120 to $150.
“The ability to express Nanette’s design aesthetic in the areas of color, print, detail and fit is very exciting,” said Howie Greller, Manhattan Beachwear’s vice president of merchandising. “We believe we can bring newness and innovative styling to the highly competitive swim and resort/coverup category.”
Manhattan Beachwear will design, manufacture, market and distribute the Nanette Lepore Swim line. The swimwear maker produces licensed swimwear for Kenneth Cole New York, Kenneth Cole Reaction, Hermanny by ViX, Sofia by ViX, Split and Hobie. Its in-house brands are 24th and Ocean and Maxine of Hollywood.—Erin Barajas
