Off-Price Show to Run During L.A. Majors Market in October
The Off-Price Specialist Show will produce a trade show at the California Market Center during the L.A. Majors Market in October.
The Brookfield, Wisc.–based Off-Price Specialist Show is best known for producing its biannual trade show for jobbers and retailers in Las Vegas at the same time as the MAGIC Marketplace and the other Las Vegas trade shows.
A Taste of Off-Price will be the first off-price event produced at the CMC. It is scheduled to run Oct. 4–6 at the CMC’s Exhibit Hall in the lower level of the building’s C wing.
Another A Taste of Off-Price show will debut first at Gotham Hall in New York City May 2–4, running concurrently with Intermezzo. David Lapidos, a senior vice president for Off-Price Specialist, said the prestige of the locations and the show schedules are proof that the popularity for the off-price market is skyrocketing.
“Our vendors recognize untapped potential in these key markets,” Lapidos said in a prepared statement. “But for buyers familiar with the trade, the expansion of Off-Price beyond the semiannual Las Vegas fashion week is a vote of confidence from suppliers on the availability of product from the off-price market.”
A Taste of Off-Price in Los Angeles is forecast to be a 120-booth show. The New York event is forecast to be a 60-booth show. The biannual Las Vegas show typically hosts 1,000 booths. The next Off-Price Specialist Show is scheduled Aug. 15–18 at the Sands Expo & Convention Center in Las Vegas.
The Off-Price Specialist Show is also increasing its online offerings. This spring, the company will merge its wholesale e-commerce Web site, Offpriceshowrooms.com, with its online magazine, Offprice.com. The online magazine will be expanded and offer more news and announcements on the growing off-price market.—Andrew Asch
