LAEDC's Kyser Retires
Jack Kyser has been one of the most respected and familiar voices offering authoritative perspectives and insights on Los Angeles and California business for the past two decades. On June 14, he confirmed his retirement as the founding economist for the Kyser Center for Economic Research at the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corp. Fortunately for the region’s business-news junkies, he won’t be leaving the scene.
Kyser said he will continue to comment on the local economy and will do consulting work. He’ll spend the next month wrapping up the LAEDC’s Mid-Year Forecast and Industry Outlook, which will be released on July 21. He also confirmed that he will speak at the annual Holiday Report panel given at the Glendale Galleria retail center in Glendale, Calif., at the start of every Christmas-shopping season.
Kyser, who joined the LAEDC in 1991, said he chose to retire because he wanted to “take life a little easier.” But he’ll still be keeping a close eye on the local economy. “Don’t hang up your hat,” he advised. “If you do, you won’t last too long.”—Andrew Asch
