Pooltradeshow Moves to Mandalay
For its upcoming Aug. 17–19 run, Pooltradeshow will move to the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, where it will be located under the same roof as the Project Global Trade Show, according to Stephanie Seeley, Pool’s show director.
“Moving next to Project always is a benefit,” Seeley said. “Our brands are very excited. They’ve been asking to be located closer to Project.”
Pool serves emerging brands that often have a street and skate focus. Since 2007, the show had been located at the Las Vegas Convention Center, adjacent to WWDMAGIC, which showcases contemporary women’s and juniors labels. The location served Pool well when Project and the MAGIC Marketplace’s Street and S.L.A.T.E., which attracted similar buyers, all were located at the Las Vegas Convention Center. (MAGIC, Project and Pool are all owned by Advanstar.)
In February, the MAGIC Marketplace’s management moved Project, Street, S.L.A.T.E., Premium and MAGIC Menswear to the Mandalay Bay Convention Center. At the time, Pool organizers wanted to move. However, the convention center did not have enough space available, and Project found itself doing business adjacent to a veterinarians’ trade show on Mandalay Bay’s first floor, while MAGIC’s other shows were located on the second level.
With Pool under the same roof with Project and the other shows, the ambiance will be more consistent, Seeley said. Pool’s specific location at Mandalay Bay has not been confirmed yet, but Seeley said the show will be held on the first level of the convention center. Project will remain on Mandalay Bay’s first floor. S.L.A.T.E., Street, Premium and MAGIC Menswear will again be located on the convention center’s second floor.
While Pool’s location changed, everything else about it should be the same. Seeley said she expects the show to remain the same size, with more than 185 brands. And the show’s idiosyncratic decor will be the same. “Everything that makes Pool fresh is coming with us,” Seeley said.—Andrew Asch
