Citizens of Humanity

For its first corporate showroom, Citizens of Humanity went big. Really big.
Located on the top floor of the Lady Liberty Building, the new 5,000-square-foot showroom is part of a major branding push sparked by the recent addition of Georgio Presca as executive vice president of the premium-denim company.
Founder Jerome Dahan and Adriano Goldschmied, vice president of product development, took inspiration for the space from urban environments. The pair enlisted the help of Venice Beach, Calif.–based architects and interior designers Sam Marshall and Anthony Agriam of the Marshall Agriam Studio to realize their vision.
Citizens of Humanity will showcase its premium denim, twill, knit and corduroy collections in a space that features original brick walls and hardwood floors and skyline views. To open up the space, the architects raised the roof of the showroom and installed windows overhead. Reclaimed and reworked vintage furniture, custom Tunisian tiles bearing the Citizens logo, aged-steel arches and other architectural details were added to the space to reflect the brand’s utilitarian-meets-craftsmanship vibe. A wooden silo clad in reclaimed wood acts as the showroom’s meeting space. Six custom-made stations give buyers room to spread out and work the line with ease, said Dominique Jacoby, Citizens’ West Coast account executive.
The new showroom will be open full-time and will make its debut during the Fall/Holiday market June 14–17. “We continue to focus on customer service. The [new] space reflects that—it is inviting and welcoming. Buyers can connect with the line, and we can offer an experience that is very different from the everyday showroom experience,” Jacoby said.—Erin Barajas
