Chemline Hosts Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Designer Showcase

Women’s contemporary brand Chemline is rallying a collective of designers for a shopping party that sounds like the fashion version of a farmer’s market co-op. The event will be held at Chemline’s studio/retail front in Los Angeles’ Chinatown district and will showcase local designers that use organic, sustainable or recycled materials.

Expect to find a cornucopia of varying styles, from Chemline’s vintage-inspired, tailored pieces that are loaded with fine detailing to Lavuk’s easy tops, skirts and dresses made with organic cotton, tencel, hemp and deadstock silks. Anita Arze will be selling her knit wraps and cover-ups that were made on handlooms in Bolivia. Certified gemologist Tiffany Kunz will display her necklaces, bracelets and earrings using fair-trade stones and hammered out of reclaimed metal, and Ashley Watson will have a selection of her quirky handbags, which are made from recycled leather jackets. Perhaps to tip the scales toward spend-happiness, a “biodynamic bar” (which is a posh way of describing cocktails made with organic domestic liquor and organic wine) will dole out the beverages.

To RSVP and for more information, call (323) 229-7129. Saturday, June 12 from 2 to 8 p.m. at Chemline’s new studio boutique in L.A.'s Chinatown district at 504 Chung King Court.
