Waterwear 2011: Miss Me: Adding a Splash of Swimwear
Miss Me launched its first clothing collection in 2001 with the idea of dressing the modern girl who no longer felt definable. Since then, the Los Angeles label, started by Stella Cho, has added Miss Me Jeans, the young contemporary label Sweet by Miss Me and MM Couture by Miss Me. Now it is injecting a new swimwear line that will be as multi-dimensional as the Miss Me customer.
Cho turned the new concept over to swimwear designer Yulia Drummond, whose Voda Fashion LLC has the license to make the new Miss Me swim collection, which debuts at the SwimShow 2011 in Miami Beach, Fla., in July.
“It is a totally contemporary line that will appeal to everyone from the 15-year-old young woman to someone in their 30s or 40s,” said Drummond, whose own Los Angeles swimwear line is called Voda Swim, known for its push-up-bra tops that have a natural look. “We are doing a lot of edgy colors and edgy prints with elements of rock ’n’ roll. Miss Me Jeans is famous for its rhinestones and distressing that will be incorporated into the swimwear.”
The nylon spandex swimwear with polyester/spandex lining will come in classic bikini cuts as well as Brazilian cuts and incorporate some string bikinis. In addition, one-piece suits will come in the form of monokinis. Halter tops will be offered to the woman who wants a little extra support.
Retail price points will range from $88 to $120 a set.
Predominant colors will be royal blue, red, aqua, purple, black, white and gold. “The Miss Me girl wants to look sexy, show it off and be noticed,” Drummond noted. “That is the inspiration.”
