The Catwalk Sizzles With Hot Looks at Hong Kong Fashion Week
Norwegian designer Espen Salberg never disappoints when he shows his elegant creations on the runway at Hong Kong Fashion Week.
Last year, Salberg, who resides in Indonesia, wowed everyone with his collection of sophisticated dresses that have simple lines but pack a punch. This year was no different when he showed what he could do with soft jersey and basic colors.
His Spring/Summer 2011 lineup was heavy on dresses that flowed like fields of wheat being pushed by a soft wind. "I pay attention to a woman's silhouette," said Espen, who used to design for professional dancers and is quite aware of how to accent a slim figuure.
In his collection called "No Solo Bianco," or "Not Only White," he started out with white jersey cocktail dresses that were shirred on the side, draped along the shoulders and hugged the body. The white cocktail dresses evolved into long, white evening dresses and jumpsuits that had simple lines accented with embellishments or gold belts. "I have always thought with summer that white was a great color against the skin," Salberg said.
His collection progressed into a whole array of leopard-skin prints that were shaped into long and short dresses. He transitioned into beige and then black, where off-the-shoulder looks and halter blouses predominated.
