German apparel label Hugo Boss announced it would close its men’s suit factory in Cleveland at the end of April, laying off 300 workers. The company said the plant, which makes two lines of men’s suits, was not running at full capacity and was not globally competitive with foreign factories. The company had been negotiating with labor unions about cost reductions. Beyond Cleveland, Hugo Boss employs 900 workers in the United States.
