L.A. Fashion Week Plans Underway
The Fall 2010 run of Los Angeles Fashion Week is right around the corner and the ever-shifting schedule of events is just beginning to take shape. Beverly Hills Fashion Week, the debut event planned by the organizers of Downtown L.A. Fashion Week, will host a small kick-off event on March 11 to drum up awareness and support for its planned launch in October. The kick-off event will be help in partnership with social networking and dating site ThreeDayRule.com at the Thompson Hotel in Beverly Hills. BHFW organizers Barbara Graff and Leanna Lewis named After-School All-Stars, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s charity, as one of the beneficiaries of future Beverly Hills Fashion Week events.
On March 16, Gen Art will host a reception honoring many of its alumni designers and Fashion Group International Los Angeles will reprise its “Designers and their Muses” networking event on March 17.
BOXeight, the downtown arts organization and photography studio, is holding a block of days March 18–22. In past seasons, BOXeight has hosted runway shows, art installations and photo shoots. L.A. Fashion Weekend will return to Hollywood for its events March 20-21. Project Ethos will host its fashion, music and arts event on March 19 in Hollywood and SewDown, which also highlights fashion, art and music, will return to Los Angels on March 20 with its group show.
And the California Market Center and Fashion Business Inc. will host their second “Designer Launch Pad” runway show on March 20. Mosaic L.A.’s group designer show “Hope in the City” is scheduled for March 24 in downtown Los Angeles.
Several designers, brands and retailers have already scheduled fashion week events. On March 18, Yotam Solomon will host a fashion presentation and T-shirt line Dirtee Hollywood will host an event. Both will be held in West Hollywood. Lauren Elaine will host an event, also in West Hollywood, on March 22 and Kami Shade will present a fashion show for her Supastar collection on March 23 in Los Angeles. What Goes Around Comes Around will host a fashion presentation and anniversary party on March 18 in Hollywood.
Los Angeles Fashion Market begins on March 19. The CMC will also host a panel discussion and opening reception on March 19 for its “110 Years of Fashion at 110 E. 9th St.” event. Simply Stylist, the stylist networking event is scheduled for March 24–25 and L.A. Fashion Collective is scheduled to host an event on March 24.
