Graffiti Beach's Swim Show Draws a Crowd in Costa Mesa, Calif.
There’s always time for a bikini fashion show come rain or snow, said Melanie Michaud, owner of the Graffiti Beach pop-up shop. On Feb. 20, the weather forecast predicted heavy rain in Costa Mesa, Calif., where Graffiti Beach was scheduled to produce a 40-look beachwear show at The Camp specialty retail center.
“I told everyone that they needed to do a sun dance,” Michaud said. Fortunately, the weather cooperated with her, and more than 600 people crowded into The Camp’s Gallery to check out a runway show that featured designs from independent labels such as Tavik, Arka, Jedidiah, Poko Pano, Salt, Tyler Rose and L.A. Native.
Graffiti Beach will be producing another pop-up shop and runway show, scheduled for March 10–12, on the campus of University of California, Irvine in Irvine, Calif. Michaud said she is looking for more vendors to sell their wares at the pop up shop and appear in the runway show. For more information, call Michaud at (925) 285-6261.—Andrew Asch
