Apparel Imports
U.S. apparel imports in 2009 fell to levels not seen in six years, dipping 6.1 percent to 21.32 billion-square-meter equivalents in quantity and dropping 11.8 percent to $63.10 billion in dollar amounts compared with 2008. Also, U.S. footwear imports in 2009 fell for a third year in a row, to levels not seen since 2003. Last year, the United States imported 1.97 billion pairs of shoes, down 8.2 percent over 2008.
