Obituary: Model and Designer Lisa Quill, 46
After battling breast cancer for many years, designer Lisa Quill died on Dec. 15. She was 46.
The California native got her start in the apparel business as a swimsuit model in New York. She returned to Los Angeles, modeling at Los Angeles market and at showrooms for several years before taking a job at the Rande Cohen showroom in 1999, according to friend and coworker Rande Cohen. In 2003, Quill shifted to design, launching the Lisa Quill collection of crystal flip-flops and apparel.
Quill was diagnosed with breast cancer nine years ago and fought hard to overcome the disease—which Cohen described as “a major fight!”
“Lisa had the sweetest soul of anyone I’ve ever met,” Cohen said. “She was a private and compassionate person who never complained no matter how tough life became for her. ’Honor’ and ’style’ are words that describe her. She always was positive and thankful for her life. She was happy.”
Quill is survived by her husband of 13 years, Tim, and her 9-year-old son, Timothy.—Alison A. Nieder
