TJX’s A.J. Wright Plans
Framingham, Mass.–based TJX Cos. announced plans to convert 91 of its A.J. Wright stores into T.J. Maxx, Marshalls or HomeGoods stores. The remaining 71 A.J. Wright stores will be closed. According to a company statement, the elimination of the A.J. Wright nameplate will result in the elimination of approximately 4,400 positions across the United States by late January. The approximately 3,400 employees working in the 91 A.J. Wright stores slated to convert to another TJX nameplate will remain employed with the company. In addition, the company will close two A.J. Wright distribution centers located in South Bend, Ind., and in Fall River, Mass.
