A Tale of Two Hurleys and One Weezer
It shouldn't be any surprise at all, seeing as how the apparel industry is rife with collaborations, but this latest one is sort of unique.
Costa Mesa, Calif.-based action-sports brand Hurley has teamed up with Weezer for "Rocks You Back to School" - a "fashion and music collaboration" that includes limited-edition Hurley wovens, T-shirts and hoodies for guys and girls inspired by Weezer.
It's a way of connecting with fans, said the band. "My favorite piece we've created is the zip-up hoodie - especially for those cool fall nights," said Pat Wilson, Weezer's drummer. The Weezer x Hurley gear will be available exclusively at Pacific Sunwear stores and will debut Sept. 10.
Here's where the music part and the second Hurley come in. Sept. 10 is also the debut of Weezer's new record - wait for it - Hurley. Spelled the same way and everything. Aaaand the cover art is a picture of Jorge Garcia, the guy who played "Hurley" on the hit, mind-bending show Lost. So, really, I guess that makes this a tale of three Hurleys.
