In a leather jacket and slim black pants, Gravis team rider Dylan Rieder appears to be the hot yet introspective lead singer of the latest critic’s-darling indie rock band, rather than what most people expect from a sponsored skateboarder.

Rieder’s confident hipster style is seen in his signature skateboard shoe collection for Gravis that doesn’t look like skate shoes. Following up the lace-free “Dylan” skate shoe in oxblood-color leather delivering this Fall, Gravis showed Rieder’s Spring 2011 shoe line at the Class@ASR show in San Diego Aug. 13–15.
A boat shoe style gets a waxy denim finish makeover, and a suede ninja boot is treated with deliberate wrinkles and a zip opening—all of which have special footbeds that make them functional for concrete cruising.
