Getting the Lowdown on Boutique Design
The Los Angeles store of Trina Turk
Everyone thinks that fashion designers have so many innovative ideas that they can just whip up a few new concepts and design the interiors of their own stores. That's not necessarily true.
For example, Los Angeles designer Trina Turk has often turned to interior designer Kelly Wearstler to take her own artistic touch and apply it to Turk's stores. First, is was for Turk's Los Angeles store and later for her California stores in Palm Springs and Newport Beach. Turk also has stores in towns such as Miami Beach and New York.
So it only seems appropriate that Turk should host a book signing for Wearstler, who recently wrote "Hue," which celebrates the power of color found in Wearstler's designs seen in hotels, resorts, restaurants and boutiques.
The book signing will be between 6 and 8 p.m. on Aug. 19 at Trina Turk's store at 8008 W. Third St. You might get a few valuable tips on how to shape up your own store.
