Maidenform + Mad Men
New York–based lingerie giant Maidenform Brands Inc. is teaming up with Janie Bryant, the costume designer for the AMC TV series “Mad Men,” for a social-media campaign created to educate consumers about the benefits of intimate foundations. Bryant will host consumer events around the country over the next two years, and consumers can follow the company on Facebook and Twitter to receive Bryant’s advice for “building the best look from the inside out.” The partnership has a meta twist, as well. The second season of “Mad Men” featured an episode titled “Maidenform,” in which the fictional ’60s ad agency Sterling Cooper pitched ideas for a “Jackie vs. Marilyn” campaign to Maidenform rival Playtex shortly before Marilyn Monroe’s death.
